Total savings of $2,425.00

2010 Honda
Accord EX or LXP
with a five speed manual transmission

royal blue exterior with grey cloth interior
2nd choice silver exterior with grey cloth interior.

I found the vehicle in PA. I made arraignments for a dealership
in New Jersey to drive to PA. and bring the vehicle back, but
first we had to consumate the deal with the N.J. dealer.

This vehicle had a Dealer Cash  incentive being given

to the dealership from the vehicle manufacturer

of which my customer received the full benefit.

As we were leaving my customer said to me
"we got a fantastic deal"
I said "I know we got a fantastic deal, but how do you know it"?

He said " I was quoted the same price by another dealer
but it was the LX model NOT the EX model"

Penny & Susie from Northern N.J.

Total combined savings of $9,620

Two ladies shopping for 2 new Honda vehicles
One selected a Honda Pilot 4x4
and the other selected a Honda Civic EX

They both had trade-in vehicles.
They both went to 3 Dealerships before I spoke with them.
Out of the 3 dealerships they shopped only 1 gave them
any prices. I looked at the numbers and immediately saw
neither woman was receiving a good deal.

Both deals were written in such a way as to totally confuse you.
The price of the vehicle was not listed
The trade-in value was not listed
The rebates were not listed
All they had was an amount of money
plus trade, plus payoff if any, plus tax, m.v. & doc
INCLUDES all rebates and incentives

How is a normal person suppose to understand
what they are paying for the new vehicle and
what they are receiving for their trade?

I negotiated everything separately.
First, we negotiated the selling price without using any rebates
next, we negotiated the trade-in value
we questioned the salesperson as to the rebates
available and exactly what rebates we were qualified to receive.
next, we subtracted the rebates to come up with a net figure.

Both women were having their
 TRADE-INS GROSSLY UNDERVALUED
The first was offered $2500 for her Trade-In.
I was able to get her $4000
The second was offered $1000 for her Trade-In.
I was able to get her $1800

I was able to negotiate a $2,410 discount on the new car for Penny
plus $1,500 additional for her trade-in
for a saving of $3,910

I was able to negotiate a $1,835 discount on the new car for Susie
plus $800 additional for her trade-in
for a saving of $2,635

WE ARE NOT DONE YET!

Next, Susie and I went into the finance office.
We told the finance manager
"we are going to use 0.9% financing for 48 Months"
He responds BOLDLY with
"NO, YOU DON'T QUALIFY for 0.9%"
she does NOT have a credit score on her credit bureau.
I tell him to just ignore that fact because she has two paid auto loans.
He wanted to charge her 6.24% APR
I told him NOWe will get our own Loan

Then we dicuss the Purchase of an
Extended Warranty for a Honda Civic
Here is where things get really crazy
The person attempting to Sell the Extended Warranty
was confused. I ask him some questions and he had to go into the next room to
ask his boss. His boss comes back with him holding a 3 ring binder with a price sheet. The boss points to the price sheet
and says "this is my cost" $1480
I need $400 profit on top of this price for a TOTAL of $1880
I look at the PRICE SHEET and REALIZE THE CHART
is for a "USED NON-HONDA" Vehicle
NOT A BRAND NEW HONDA CIVIC!
I told him he was insane and we walked out
without buying the Extended Warranty

I researched the exact warranty and found out the MSRP was only

$1050.
The next day, the finance manger who tried to charge me $1880 for the warranty coverage called. I told him, I know the real MSRP for the Honda Civic Extended Warranty and that he was not even close
He wanted me to tell him how much the
MSRP is for the Honda Civic Warranty
I told him "look in the Honda price book and find it yourself.
I told him if he wanted our business
He would have to discount the extended warranty.
plus the finance rate had to be super low.

I closed the deal with an interest rate of 3.74% APR
and $875 for the Extended Warranty.

My customer saved $1,005 on the Extended Warranty
and
 saved
approximately $800 in finance Interest
3.74% VS. 6.24%
for a additional $1805 in savings on top of her $2635 savings
on the Honda Civic and her trade-in for a
Susie total savings of $4,440

The next day, Penny chose an extended warranty for a Honda Pilot 4x4.
A second finance person from the same dealership came out to speak with us. She explained, if we purchased the Extended Warranty on the day of delivery she would sell it to us "at her cost" of $2495

I researched the warranty and found out the MSRP was only $1440.
On the day of delivery, we spoke to a third finance person and I negotiated the price down to $1225

Penny saved $1,270 on the extended warranty
on top of her $3,910 savings on the new vehicle & her trade-in for a
Penny total savings of $5,180

Total savings for both Susie & Penny $9,620
